Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Garden

In 1550, Cosimo I de’Medici buys this palace and transforms it into the new residence of the Medici family. It will continue to be the official residence of the governors of Florence for over three centuries, until 1919 when it is donated to the Italian state.
The walk goes through the decorated halls where you can admire the Medici family’s important collection of paintings, created by the most famous artists such as Raphael and also Artemisia Gentileschi, the first woman to be admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.
The visit ends with a walk in the Boboli garden with a beautiful view of the city.
